About the Organization
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our 10-week Summer VISTA program. Our hiring deadline has passed for the 2023 cohort, but we'd love to discuss any of our year-long positions with you and invite you to apply to next year's summer cohort.
We are an AmeriCorps VISTA program currently placing full-term members with organizations in Ames, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City. We expect there to be summer opportunities in all of these areas except for Ames.
In contrast to year-long VISTAs, summer members are encouraged to engage in direct service at their sites. For many of our sites, this will involve direct involvement in food production on farms, where you will become an expert on growing, harvesting, and distributing fresh, local, affordable produce. You will also support the ongoing capacity-building projects of full-term VISTA(s) at your site, becoming immersed in program management and gaining experience in professional writing and speaking for a variety of audiences.
